ANSES conducts missions in the areas of surveillance, expert appraisal, research and reference in a wide range of fields including human health, animal health and well-being, and plant health. The Plant Health Laboratory is the reference, scientific and technical support body of Anses for all subjects concerning risks to plant health and quarantine organisms. It is composed of different team for all phytopathology and topics. It is developing some studied on epidemiology, taxonomy of pathogens in order to propose reliable detection and diagnostic tools. Anses-LSV has developed skills and expertise in protocols for validation of methods (evaluation of performance criteria of methods) and interlaboratory comparative testing as well in biomolecular identification tools. The LSV counts nearly 70 people and it is made up of 6 units of laboratories: the headquarter is located in Angers , the Anses headquarter is located in Maison-Alfort (Paris suburb). The unit of bacteriology in Angers and unit of entomology in Montpellier are specifically involved in basic and applied research on quarantine and invasive pathogens affecting crops.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
ANSES-LSV will participate in the project with its experience of detection of new outbreak of Xylella fastidiosa (Xf) on French territory and interception on Coffee plant and outbreak of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CalSol). Anses-LSV will participate in improvement of the isolation procedures and cultivation protocols for Xylella fastiodiosa from different hosts; will develop rapid and automated diagnostic assays for sensitive and specific detection of both pathogens CalSOl and Xf; will develop genetic characterization of the haplotypes of CalSol to study of the genetic diversity of CaLsol in France, in several hosts, will give identification key for the vector(s) involved in the natural spread of CalSol and Xf. Anses-LSV will design of survey protocols and their implementation for apiaceous crops, potato (plants and tubers) In addition, LSV will contribute in validation methods through organization of inter laboratory comparison tests and in improving EPPO protocols.
ANSES-LSV will be involved in the following work packages: WP2, WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP10, WP11
