Symptoms of Xylella fastidiosa diseases in Apulia (Italy)

Symptoms associated with Xylella fastidiosa infections in different host plants in Apulia (Italy)

A photo gallery of symptoms associated with Xylella fastidiosa infections in different host plants in Apulia, and their progression over time, has been prepared by CNR-Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection (Bari, Italy), in collaboration with the Department of Soil, Plant and Food Sciences, University of Bari (Italy).

This slideshow presentation has been prepared within the framework of the H2020 research Projects POnTE (Pest Organisms Threatening Europe) and XF-ACTORS (Xylella Fastidiosa Active Containment Through a multidisciplinary-Oriented Research Strategy).

Xylella fastidiosa: host plants

A section on the web portal “Emergenza Xylella”, devoted to the outbreak of Xylella fastidiosa in Apulia and issued by the Regional Phytosanitary Service, represents a visual catalogue of symptoms caused by the bacterium on several host plants identified as its hosts.

Host species of Xylella fastidiosa subspecies pauca CoDiRO strain: symptomatology

In 2016, the Apulian Regional Phytosanitary Service organised a training course for technical staff to be involved in the survey campaign monitoring the spread of Xylella fastidiosa infections in the Region. On that occasion, Dr. Donato Boscia (CNR-IPSP, Italy) instructed the trainees on how to recognise symptoms caused by the bacterium as well as their progression on different hosts found in Apulia.

His presentation is now available on the web portal “Emergenza Xylella”, devoted to the outbreak of Xylella fastidiosa in Apulia and issued by the Regional Phytosanitary Service.
