FAO-IPPC opens expert consultation for Xylella fastidiosa and Bactrocera dorsalis complex

FAO International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) has officially opened an Expert Consultation on two different draft diagnostic protocols (DPs), under the work programme of the Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP). This year, experts worldwide are invited to submit comments on the protocols under development for diagnosis of Xylella fastidiosa (2004-024) and the oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis complex (2004-024), two regulated pests that are relevant for international trade.

This Expert Consultation, now open until December 1, 2016, is an expert comment system on the International Phytosanitary Portal (IPP) with the objective to ensure improvement on quality for the development of a draft diagnostic protocol (DP), through inputs and feedback, on a scientific basis, from a wider number of experts worldwide not part of the DP drafting group.
