Research on Xylella presented at the XXIV National Congress of the Italian Phytopathological Society (SIPaV)

The XXIV National Congress of the Italian Phytopathological Society (SIPaV) was held in Ancona from 5 to 7 September 2018 . The congress was organized by the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences (D3A) of the Polytechnic University of Marche.

The rich program of the event, organized into eight sessions, plus some satellite events, brought together Italian phytopathologists and relevant international guests.

An entire session, chaired by Prof. Giovanni Paolo Martelli (Università degli Studi di Bari, Italy) and Dr. Stefania Loreto (CREA-PAV, Roma, Italy), was dedicated to the topic of Xylella fastidiosa.

POnTE and XF-ACTORS Consortia were represented by Dr. Crescenza Dongiovanni (CRSFA “Basile Caramia”, Locorotondo, Bari, Italy) giving a talk on “FIELD EXPERIMENTS FOR THE CONTAINMENT OF THE SPREAD OF XYLELLA FASTIDIOSA IN OLIVE ORCHARDS” and Dr. Valeria Scala (CREA-PAV, Roma, Italy) presenting “XYLELLA FASTIDIOSA SUBSP. PAUCA STRAIN DE DONNO: A LIPIDOMIC POINT OF VIEW”.

An international session, organized by the SIPaV and the American Phytopathological Society (APS), was organized on the theme “Emerging and re-emerging plant pathogens”, with the participation of Prof. Lindsey Du Toit (Washington State University, USA), Prof. Gary Munkvold (Iowa State University, USA), Prof. Santina Cacciola (Università di Catania, Italy) and Dr. Sabrina Palmano (CNR-IPSP, Torino, Italy).
